Christmas party day reminders

A bunch of reminders . . . Hey, you guys, once again, what an amazing sale! Noelle will tell us at the party exactly how well we did! Speaking of the party, don't forget your mug exhange gift, your show and tell if you have any, and your goodies for our CHRISTMAS POTLUCK DINNER, Monday night, December 1st at 6 p.m. It can be sweet or savoury or both!
As well, the FIBRE UNLIMITED STUDY GROUP will be getting together in the guild room on December 1st at 1 p.m. If any of you wish to get together at the guild room in the afternoon and then go straight to Marcia's for the party, come on down. I have heard from the grapevine, there's going to be quite a bit of warping and weaving going on. What a perfect day, weaving in the afternoon and partying in the evening. Take care and see you Monday evening. jg

November 'Knit in'

Thank you Gabi for hosting this months 'knit in' at your home. Six of us enjoyed the friendship of knitting, locker hooking or just chatting taking in the view of White Lake.

Desert Mesa Retreat Spring 2009

You are invited to join Sheila and Donna at the 2nd Annual Spring Spinning Retreat in Cache Creek
The Retreat will be held at “Immaculate Heart of Mary Shrine Center” in Cache Creek, April 17-18-19, 2009.
Their telephone number is 250-457-9930, just to be used for emergencies.
The facilities include:
23 rooms with 2 single beds with private bathroom and shower.
 3 rooms with 1 double bed with private bathroom and shower.
 Large bright conference room that seats 50+.
 Large dining room that seats 50+.
 Bedding and towels are supplied.
We will have a Spinning Show & Tell on Friday and then we will set them out on display for all to see. We would like to remind all of you participating in the gift exchange, to keep the gifts appropriate for everyone as lately some of the gifts have been inappropriate for the person receiving the gift, also remember many people have allergies, so scented products can be a problem. Fibre is always appreciated and everyone seems to like gifts related to sheep or fibre animals. Please keep gifts ($10-15). We will have vendors, Fibre Plus and Aurelia Wools.
There are comfortable chairs, but they do have arms, so you might want to bring your own chair for spinning.
 We would like you to please bring a rug or cover of some sort to place under your wheel and chair to keep the fibre off the rug, as it is increasingly difficult to clean the carpet after our Spin-In.
You may want to bring your own pillow and a large towel. Any donations to the Door Prizes would be greatly appreciated.
Costs:
 Sharing two single beds $160.00 per person
 Double $240 per person… single
 Double bed sharing $160.00 per person

Guild Equipment Policy

SHUSWAP SPINNERS & WEAVERS GUILD EQUIPMENT POLICY

Equipment rental privileges will be extended to paid-up guild members in good standing and all fees below shall apply to all members, unless otherwise specified.

Appropriate deposit and monthly rental fees will be paid, as listed below, prior to equipment leaving the guild room.

All rental arrangements must be made through the equipment person and equipment must not be removed from guild room without this arrangement. Deposits and rental fees are to be paid directly to the equipment person. The equipment person will record all rental information in guild equipment rental book.

Deposit cheques will be held by the equipment person and returned to the lending member when equipment is return.

Equipment is to be returned in the good condition as it was prior to rental. If equipment person assesses that equipment has been damaged during rental and charges will incur to repair equipment, the equipment person will assess and determine what those charges will be. Those costs will be subtracted from the rental deposit cheque.

Members who are teaching privately and need to borrow guild wheels or looms for their students: the guild will require that the instructor/member charge the student using the guild wheel or loom, a fee of $5 per day. This daily fee can be added to their lesson/workshop fee. Instructor/member will be responsible to make arrangements through the equipment person, pay the $5/per day fee to the equipment person, and return the equipment in good condition. If damage occurs with guild equipment, the instructor/member will be responsible. Borrowed wheels or looms must stay in the possession of the instructor/member and cannot be taken home by their student.

Members who come to the guild room and use equipment on the guild premises for their own personal projects will not be charged deposit or rental fees. Members must sign in the Guild book, record the reason they are there and also record the name of equipment they intend to use. Members are expected to leave equipment in the same condition they found it in and will be responsible for any damage incurred during the use of the equipment.

Members who use equipment for group guild projects or education, either in the guild room, at fairs, public events, etc., no deposit or fees will apply.

If equipment is being stored by a member, at the request of the guild, no deposit or fees will apply.

Guild Library Policy

SHUSWAP SPINNERS & WEAVERS GUILD LIBRARY POLICY

November, 2008

Library lending privileges will be extended to paid-up guild members in good standing.

Library books, magazine and videos may be borrowed on a meeting-to-meeting basis, or a one-month basis. There will be a overdue charge of $1.00 per month for any overdue book, magazine or video. If you are unable to return your borrowed book, magazine or video at the appropriate return time, please contact our librarian to make arrangements to renew same. All overdue fees will be paid directly to our librarian.

When members take out and return books, magazine or videos from the library, care should be taken to fill out the library cards in the correct manner. If you are unsure how to do this, please ask our librarian. Keeping track of our inventory of books, magazines, and videos in the library depends on this process being done in a correct manner.

All books, magazines and videos must be returned to the guild by the June meeting so our librarian can do the annual inventory through summer.

A printed-out inventory list of all books, magazines, videos and resource books shall be updated and on display each year for our members' consideration, after completion of inventory by our librarian.

Any book, magazine or video marked on inventory list as "RESOURCE MATERIAL" shall not be removed from the library guild room. Guild members are welcome to come into the guild room and use such resource material there.

A November note to say . . .

It's hard to believe that our sale is two shorts weeks away! I know everyone is busy doing last-minute things, getting ready for the sale. It's always fabulous to finally see everyone's beautiful product. It's very inspiring and I can't wait. I hope everyone will get their posters out to strategic places in the community. That is such a help for Marcia and her sale crew. If you can, plan to stay the day at the art gallery. It's a great opportunity to just visit and do lunch with friends, assist with the desk and floor walking, and watch the beautiful things walk out the door with their new owners! See you there!

I also want to tell you some news about our December meeting/Christmas Potluck on December 1st. Be prepared for a few changes. The festivities will be at Marcia's house. We will do the meeting first before we eat. The meeting will be a new Christmas-abbreviated form of meeting. I'm hoping it will not be any longer than 15 minutes. We'll call the meeting to order, approve the previous minutes, Noelle can report on how we did at the Christmas sale and hand out the cheques. After we're all rejoicing at how rich we are, we will then adjourn the meeting EL PROMPTO and continue on with the festivities! All other meeting business will be either handled by the executive or put over to the January meeting. We will still have Show and Tell after we eat and do our fun things, so don't forget to bring anything you might have to show us. Go ahead . . . inspire us for 2009!

Bring yourself, your goodies for the potluck, your show and tell, and be prepared for some fun. See you all then.

Bye for now,
J.G.
