Spin true superfine lace-weight gossamer yarns that are beautiful to look at, touch, and work with. Challenge yourself, your skills and your spinning wheel and be thrilled with the results. Superfine merino wool (17 - 19 microns) will be the fibre of choice, with enough fibre provided to students to complete a smaller type project at home. A comprehensive notebook will also be provided.
Topics covered: getting the most out of your wheel when spinning fine yarns, choosing superfine raw fleece and rovings, special scouring techniques of superfine fibres, special techniques for spinning and plying superfine singles together for perfectly balanced yarns to be used in so many ways to create stunning shawls, Orenburg, Faroese, etc, and other lace type projects.

Biography: Judith Glibbery of Armstrong B.C. is an experienced spinning teacher, both in individual and workshop settings, and has spent 28 years promoting her craft to hand spinners throughout B.C. Judith has also been an active advocate for the sheep industry on a provincial and national level in Canada for many years. She is a frequent fleece judge and lecturer at many fleece shows, sheep breeder associations and agricultural fairs throughout B.C.
